Anti – Wrinkles
Wrinkles and lines appear over time as we age. Anti-wrinkle injections are a popular, fast and effective, non-surgical intervention to assist in reducing and preventing the formation of new lines.
At Melbourne Antiwrinkle Clinic our experienced medical doctors (GPs) are experts at administering safe and effective anti-aging injections.
What are Anti Wrinkle Injections?
It’s really quite simple. Anti-wrinkle cosmetic injections use a natural, purified protein that is administered at very low doses to reduce the contractions of winkle-causing muscles. Most typically these are the muscles on your forehead and the little corrugator muscles between your eyebrows. These muscles get in the habit of staying contracted and are the ones that can cause you to look perpetually worried or angry.
Aging skin and wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. It’s not just about cellular changes, collagen depletion, hormone loss, or damage caused by free radicals. The 11s – those vertical lines that appear between your brows – result from muscle contractions. When you concentrate, squint, or frown, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. After years of frequent contraction, those wrinkles can linger even after the muscles are at rest. Cosmetic injections work by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes the persistent lines to form between the brows

What can I expect at a consultation for antiwrinkle treatment? Your initial consultation to discuss the procedure is free. Each consultation involving antiwrinkle injections usually takes between 15-20 minutes and involves between 10 and 15 injections. These are carried out using tiny needles to minimise any discomfort. There is next to no down time, although activities like exercise should be avoided for at least 6 hours after the treatment. The area should not be touched for 24 hours and a review with Dr Lam should take place 2 to 3 weeks after the first procedure. These treatments are completely safe with severe and permanent reactions almost completely unheard of; Dr Lam will be able to discuss all of this during your free initial consultation.
